CAB International 

CAB International (CABI) is a leading global not-for-profit organization specializing in sustainable solutions for agricultural and environmental problems.

CABI's representative for the BTN project is Dr. Eric Boa. Dr. Boa has a background in bamboo management, tree health, diagnostics and advisory services, non-timber forest products. He has worked in developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America and has extensive experience of bamboo in all three continents, including rural development projects, research projects and commercial consultancies. He is currently involved in a sustainable livelihoods project in Bangladesh (CARE/DFID) looking at the use of rural bamboo by the lowest income groups.  He has carried out pioneering work on multidisciplinary approaches to rural bamboo in Kerala, a project that he created and managed for three years. His other interests include the development of appropriate diagnostic and advisory services in plant health for rural communities, tree health in agroforestry (projects in Bolivia and Vietnam) and the sustainable management of wild edible fungi in southern Africa. He manages three projects, numerous staff overseas, and also the staff of the plant clinic at CABI Bioscience.
